The Railway Society exists to maintain an interest in all forms of rail transport, including British and overseas railway systems, tramways, and industrial lines.
We look at both the past and the present, and aim to cover every aspect of railway operation, including locomotives, rolling stock, signalling, buildings and infrastructure.
Our meetings cover a wide range of rail transport topics:
both UK and international
current and historical
including trams and light rapid transit.
We have both slide show and video presentations. New speakers are always very welcome. Meeting are usually held between 12.30 to 1.30pm every Wednesday in the middle of each month, except August.
Members of the Rail Transport Society receive regular email notifications of meetings and other events of interest.
Circulation, free of charge, of a range of railway magazines and periodicals. The society’s magazine list includes all the major titles, and covers all the subjects of interest to railway enthusiasts, including up-to-date news of the UK rail network and light.
New members from MHCLG, DfT, and other associated organisations, are very welcome.
