The St James's and Westminster Players
Join the Spotlight with The St. James's and Westminster Players
Have you ever dreamed of performing on stage? Perhaps you've acted before and are looking to rekindle your passion for theatre, or maybe you've always wanted to get involved but never had the opportunity. Whatever your experience, the SPARTA Drama Club offers the perfect chance to become part of a thriving amateur theatre community.
Members are invited to join The St. James's and Westminster Players, a well-established London-based amateur drama society with a reputation for producing entertaining and ambitious theatrical productions in a friendly and supportive environment.
Bringing Theatre to Life
The group's aim is to stage one or two full-length productions each year, either independently or in partnership with other drama societies, alongside smaller studio productions that support charitable causes.
From classic dramas and comedies to modern productions, members have the opportunity to be involved in every aspect of bringing a show from script to stage.
More Than Just Acting
While actors are always welcome, successful productions rely on a wide range of talents behind the scenes. The St. James's and Westminster Players are keen to welcome volunteers who would like to get involved in:
-
Directing
-
Stage management
-
Set design and construction
-
Costume and props
-
Lighting and sound
-
Front-of-house duties
-
Marketing and publicity
-
Production support and administration
No previous experience is necessary. Enthusiasm, commitment and a willingness to get involved are far more important.
A Diverse and Friendly Membership
Membership is open to serving, former and retired civil servants from all government departments. While many current members come from MHCLG, DEFRA and DfT, the group also includes members from a variety of other organisations, including Church House.
This diverse membership creates a welcoming and sociable atmosphere where people can share their love of theatre while meeting new friends and colleagues from across the public sector and beyond.
